This pizza closely resembles the New York style pizza I grew up with, featuring a thin crust, a light layer of red sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms, onions, and naturally, pepperoni. New York pizzas typically have a touch of olive oil on top and often a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese
NEW YORK STYLE PEPPERONI PIZZA
A 12oz ball of fresh pizza dough
flour to work the dough
olive oil pan spray
1/2 cup of pizza red sauce, refer to Koji Cooks' recipe or use your preferred store-bought option.
2/3 cup shredded mozzarella
4 cremini mushrooms, thinly sliced.
20 slivers of red onion - see photo
20 very thin slices of pepperoni
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh grated parmesan cheese.
Kosher salt and cracked black pepper
METHOD
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees on the convection setting.
Pan spray a perforated 12-1/2" pizza pan.
Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a 12-inch circle on a floured surface and place it on the prepared pizza pan. Spread on a thin layer of red sauce with a ladle, then sprinkle mozzarella, mushrooms, onions, and pepperoni on top. Drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with parmesan, salt, and pepper. Bake for 10 minutes.
